Dr. Lauren Streicher
Dr.
Streicher graduated from the University
of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago.
Following an internship in Internal Medicine
at Northwestern Hospital, she completed
a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology
at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center.
Since then she has been in private practice
in Chicago. She is a member of The American
Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists
and is a Fellow of The American College
of Obstetrician Gynecologists. Dr. Streicher
is an assistant clinical professor of Obstetrics
and Gynecology at Northwestern University’s
affiliate medical school, The Feinberg
School of Medicine.
Dr. Streicher is certified to perform
robotic surgeries, including hysterectomies
and myomectomies utilizing the Davinci
robot system, enabling many surgeries that
used to require a large incision to be
performed using tiny incisions and enabling
a much faster recovery.
Dr.
Streicher is well known throughout the
Chicago area due to her frequent appearances
on Network News discussing all aspects
of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In 1992
she was a member of the WBBM Health Team
with weekly appearances. In addition,
Dr. Streicher has participated multiple
times on Chicago Tonight panel discussions
and has appeared on The McNeil Lehrer
Hour. She is regularly quoted in major
newspapers and magazines including The
Chicago Tribune, The
Chicago Sun-Times,
The Wall Street
Journal, and many women’s
magazines. Her column, “Ask the
Ob-Gyn” appears regularly in The Chicago
Sun-Times. Her book, the Essential
Guide to Hysterectomy was released
in 2004. She is a nationally recognized
expert in laparoscopic hysterectomy and
alternatives to hysterectomy.
