We recommend you schedule a preconception visit a minimum of three months prior to when you would like to conceive. At that visit, we will ask you to fill out a questionnaire about family history, ethnic background, medical conditions, and lifestyle choices. You may also download our screening questionnaire and fill it out prior to your visit. (Click here to download the preconception questionnaire.)
At this visit, we will discuss appropriate preconception testing, diet, vitamins and any modifications necessary to increase the chances of a healthy pregnancy. Your partner/spouse is welcome to attend, but his presence is not required as long as you are aware of any genetic problems that run in his family. If need be, we will arrange consultation with a medical geneticist, dietician, or specialists appropriate for your needs.
We look forward to helping you achieve the healthiest pregnancy possible. In the event that you are already pregnant, "preconception" issues will be addressed at your first obstetric visit.
