There are dozens of gynecologic conditions that cause pelvic pain. Among the most common culprits are endometriosis, adenomyosis, ovarian cysts, interstitial cystitis and infections. In order to eliminate pelvic pain successfully, the first challenge is to identify the source. We start with a detailed history and physical examination and then utilize appropriate tests and procedures to pinpoint the problem.
Sometimes, the problem is not gynecologic in nature, but is instead due to gastrointestinal, urologic, musculoskeletal, psychological or neurologic pathology. If a gynecologic etiology has been ruled out, we will refer you to an appropriate specialist.
