
Nicole Chesis, our Nurse Clinician, has a wealth of experience in women’s health. She comes to us from the urogynecology department of Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Prior to that she worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Chicago and at Evanston Hospital. In addition to patient care, she was involved in research on minimizing postoperative pain. She then switched gears and moved to Planned Parenthood of Chicago where she performed routine exams and provided contraception and STD counseling for young women and teens.
Nicole received her undergraduate degree at University of Michigan and went on to receive her Masters of Science in Nursing at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland in order to become a Clinical Nurse Specialist *.
In addition to providing well woman care, contraception and STD counseling, Nicole is uniquely qualified and has a particular interest in the evaluation and treatment of urogynecologic problems such as incontinence and interstitial cystitis.
When Nicole is not working she enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 young sons.
*Clinical nurse specialists (CNSs) are registered nurses who have graduate level nursing preparation at the master's or doctoral level as a CNS. They are clinical experts in evidence-based nursing practice within a specialty area, treating and managing the health concerns of patients and populations. CNSs practice autonomously and integrate knowledge of disease and medical treatments into assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients' illnesses.
CNSs function as direct care providers, perform comprehensive health assessments, develop differential diagnoses, and may write prescriptions and order diagnostic and laboratory tests in addressing and managing specialty health problems of patients and populations.
