For those women who are not currently pregnant, but see a potential pregnancy down the road, we facilitate that journey by addressing preconception and early pregnancy issues.
We recommend you schedule a preconception visit a minimum of three months prior to when you would like to conceive. At that visit, we will ask you to fill out a questionnaire about family history, ethnic background, medical conditions, and lifestyle choices. We will discuss appropriate preconception testing, diet, vitamins and any modifications necessary to increase the chances of a healthy pregnancy.
When that home test turns positive, give us a call. We will first check hormone levels to ensure that the pregnancy is off to a good start. Approximately 7 weeks after your first missed period, we will schedule an ultrasound, an exam, and prenatal blood work to ensure that the pregnancy is healthy. At that visit, we will discuss early pregnancy issues and help you determine if you need to see a high-risk specialist or a general obstetrician, and then find just the right person to fit your needs. Once the baby is born, we look forward to seeing you back in our office… with baby pictures!
