Dr. Lauren Streicher

Dr. Streicher is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago.  Following an internship in Internal Medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, she completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center. She is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University’s medical school, The Feinberg School of Medicine.

Considered a thought leader in her field, Dr. Streicher has appeared in numerous national and local media outlets discussing all aspects of women’s health. Dr. Streicher is a recurring guest on The Dr. Oz Show, ABC’s Windy City Live!, The Today Show,  and Good Morning America-Health.  She has also appeared on The MacNeil Lehrer PBS News Hour, ABC News Now, 20/20, The Oprah Winfrey Show, and ABC World News Tonight.

In addition to contributing to articles for many magazines and newspapers, she is a medical correspondent for ABC News. She is currently blogging as an “Expert Contributor” on the Dr. Oz Show web site and is the women’s health expert for The Ladies Home Journal.

Her book, The Essential Guide to Hysterectomy, was published in 2004 and remains the number one book on hysterectomy on amazon.com. The second edition will be released in 2013, in addition to her new book, Slip Sliding Away- A Gynecologists Guide to Turning Back the Clock on Your Sex Life.

Castle Connolly, US World and News Report, and Chicago Magazine have consistently recognized her as one of the “Top Doctors” in the United States and she was featured in an article in Chicago Magazine's Top Doc issue.

In addition to her interest in consumer health education, Dr. Streicher is considered an expert in the academic world. Dr. Streicher does research, publishes in the scientific literature, and devotes significant time to teaching residents and medical students. Dr. Streicher is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a member of the Association for Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopic Surgeons, The Sexual Medicine Society of North America and The International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health. She is a Certified Menopause Practitioner with The North American Menopause Society.
