
Dr. Blumenthal graduated from Princeton University (A.B.) and The University of Chicago (M.A.) before attending medical school at the University of Michigan. She completed her residency at Michael Reese Hospital and the University of Illinois Medical Center in 1992, then began private practice in Chicago. She was at Women’s Health Resources with Illinois Masonic until 1994. She has been with Obstetric and Gynecologic Specialists of Northwestern since its inception in1994. Having lived in Europe, she speaks French and Spanish. She is a member of the American Association of gynecologic Laparoscopists and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrician Gynecologists. She is on the faculty at Northwestern University’s Medical School, The Feinbeg School of Medicine.
Dr. Blumenthal sees patients of all ages, from their twenties to nineties. She sees many patients in the perimenopausal and menopausal stages of life. Her particular gynecologic interests lie in the treatment of abnormal bleeding, fibroids, and newer techniques to manage them. In addition to standard surgical procedures, and minimally invasive procedures, she offers endometrial ablation and other alternatives to hysterectomy. She is certified and experienced in robotic myomectomy and hysterectomy utilizing the DaVinci Robot System.
