Anti-Diarrhea Diet

Certain foods are known to exacerbate diarrhea. We advise that you avoid the following:

  • milk products
  • raw fruits and raw vegetables
  • high fiber, including bran
  • Cola and highly caffeinated beverages

It is often helpful to eat:

  • dry toast, baked and starched foods, such as baked potatoes and rice
Try to avoid: 
  • fried or very fatty foods
It is important to replace lost fluid: 
  • try to drink 8 - 10 glasses of water a day
Call if diarrhea continues for more than 24 hours, there is blood in your stool, or you are feeling lightheaded.
